Lyon, January 13 – A passionate Lego fan, Jonathan Marin, an architect originally from Toulouse, is seeking to honor Lyon’s most celebrated figure, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, with a unique Lego set. Since June 2024, Marin has been actively campaigning to gather 10,000 signatures on the Lego® Ideas platform to bring his project, dedicated to The Little Prince and its author, to fruition. The deadline is fast approaching, and the project is still in need of significant support to avoid being abandoned.
A Tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and The Little Prince
Marin, who has been a fan of Lego and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry since childhood, conceived the idea of combining his two passions. He submitted his project to Lego® Ideas, a platform where individuals can propose custom building sets to the brand. His creation aims to pay homage to Saint-Exupéry’s most famous work, recognizing both “the pilot and the writer.” Marin stated to actu Toulouse, “He is an important figure who left his mark in the Toulouse region and who shaped my childhood imagination as a pioneer of aviation.”
The proposed set, comprising approximately 1,470 pieces, features two large minifigures: The Little Prince with his rose and the fox. These are overlooked by a majestic Sopwith, the iconic red airplane associated with the blond-haired boy. The set also includes the asteroid B612, from which The Little Prince is said to originate, and two minifigures of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry himself, depicted as a writer at his desk and as a pilot on a mission.
The Race Against Time for 10,000 Signatures
For this intricate project to be seriously considered by the Lego® teams and potentially introduce one of the most beloved children’s tales to a new generation, it requires 10,000 signatures. As of the time of this article’s writing, the project has garnered 4,921 supporters. It has only 26 days left to reach the 5,000-signature mark, which would grant it a six-month extension. Jonathan Marin is urging the public to vote to prevent his meticulously crafted project from being discarded.
This endeavor would also acknowledge the four to five months of dedicated work Marin invested in transforming his idea into a 3D model, meticulously designed using the brand’s production pieces.
The project represents not only a creative endeavor but also a cultural tribute to a significant literary and historical figure from the region. Its success would underscore the power of community support in bringing unique ideas to life through platforms like Lego Ideas.
