New Demonstration at Lamure Station to Support Lyon-Paray-le-Monial Line
Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, February 2, 2026 – Users of the TER Nevers/Moulins – Paray-le-Monial – Lyon railway line are refusing to be “the forgotten ones of the rail.” They are calling for a new demonstration on Wednesday, February 4th, at 6 PM, at Lamure-sur-Azergues station. This mobilization comes in response to the continued threat to the line, with the collective Adelifpaly (Association for the Development of the Paray/Lyon Railway Line) highlighting a lack of maintenance and investment in infrastructure.
Progressive Disengagement from Public Rail Service
The definitive closure of the Lamure-sur-Azergues post is cited by Adelifpaly as evidence of a “progressive disengagement from public rail service.” This follows a previous mobilization on December 6th at Dompierre-sur-Besbre station, where elected officials, citizens, and users demonstrated their “deep attachment of the territories to this railway line.”
Deteriorating Conditions and User Frustration
According to the collective, daily commuters are facing increasing difficulties due to deleted or saturated trains, repeated delays, and aging equipment. This has led to a “feeling of abandonment” among residents. The section of the line between Moulins and Paray-le-Monial is “greatly threatened” due to the lack of maintenance and investment, Adelifpaly states.
Calls for Concrete Decisions and Further Action
Despite these challenges, the line remains essential for residents and for maintaining railway continuity between Burgundy, Auvergne, and the Lyon region. The collective is also calling for a rally at Paray-le-Monial station on Saturday, February 7th, at 2 PM. Users are appealing to the State, SNCF, and the Regions for assistance, demanding “concrete decisions to guarantee a reliable, humane, and sustainable rail service.”
Rhône Department Adopts Motion of Support
In a related development, the Department of Rhône has adopted a motion in support of the TER Lyon-Paray-le-Monial line. This underscores the regional importance of the railway and the concerns shared by local authorities regarding its future.
History of User Mobilization
The current protest is part of a series of actions taken by users and local communities. Previous events, such as the gathering at Lamure station in November 2024, have consistently highlighted the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate intervention to safeguard the line.
The users emphasize that the continued deterioration of the infrastructure not only impacts daily commutes but also poses a significant threat to regional connectivity and economic activity. They hope that these renewed calls for action will finally lead to meaningful discussions and commitments from relevant authorities.
The collective remains steadfast in its demand for a long-term strategy that includes substantial investments in modernization and regular maintenance to ensure the reliability and safety of the Lyon-Paray-le-Monial line for years to come.
