The Château-Landon pool, a Parisian landmark, has officially reopened on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 9 AM, located at 31 rue du Château-Landon in the 10th arrondissement. After seven years of closure and a significant €14 million renovation, this historic swimming facility is ready to welcome back swimmers.

Why Was Château-Landon Pool Closed?

The pool was forced to close in the autumn of 2018 due to an incident involving its vault. This closure was a blow to local residents who cherished the 19th-century establishment. Originally inaugurated in 1884 and designed by architect Lucien-Dieudonné Bessières, the Château-Landon pool is a rare example of 19th-century bathhouse architecture. Its unique ‘ocean liner’ look, with two-tiered cabin corridors resembling an aquatic theatre, was adopted in 1925 during the expansion of the Gare de l’Est railway lines, which necessitated shortening its basin from 42 to 25 meters.

What’s New After the Renovation?

The extensive renovation, managed by Bouygues Bâtiment Île-de-France, began in summer 2024 and concluded after 18 months. The goal was to restore the pool while preserving its historical character. Key improvements include:

  • New Stainless Steel Basin: The 25-meter basin now features a more durable stainless steel tank, replacing the old mosaics.
  • Reconstructed Vault: The vault has been entirely rebuilt with polycarbonate and a steel roof-deck, creating a ‘thermal cushion’ for improved insulation.
  • Energy Efficiency: Facades have been insulated, water treatment now uses activated carbon filters, and lighting has been completely overhauled, resulting in significant energy savings: 40% reduction in overall energy expenditure, 54% reduction in hot water heating, and 25% savings on lighting.
  • Restored Aesthetics: The original blue, red, and yellow colors have been brought back to the walls, delighting nostalgic visitors.
  • Accessibility: The ground floor is now 100% accessible for people with reduced mobility, and two family cabins have been added.

New Activities and Extended Hours

The reopening brings a wider range of activities to cater to diverse needs:

  • Classic Swimming: Regular swimming slots are available.
  • Baby Swimmers Classes: New programs for infants.
  • Pregnancy Sessions: Dedicated sessions for expectant mothers.
  • Health Sports: Activities focused on well-being.
  • Accessibility: Special slots and facilities for people with disabilities.

The pool now operates with extended hours:

  • Monday: 9 AM to 10:30 PM
  • Tuesday: 9 AM to 8:30 PM
  • Wednesday: 7 AM to 10:30 PM

Please note: These are indicative hours. It is advisable to contact the facility to confirm opening times.

Admission Fees and Subscriptions

Despite the extensive renovations, admission fees remain aligned with other Parisian municipal pools:

  • Single Entry: €3.50 (full price), €2.00 (reduced price)
  • 10-Entry Card: €28.00 (full price), €16.00 (reduced price)
  • 3-Month Subscription: €43.00 (full price), €22.00 (reduced price)

Swimming lessons are also available, starting from €15 for 30 minutes for 1 to 3 people, or a package of 6 sessions for €66.
