Lyon, March 12 – The Métropole de Lyon, in partnership with ILOé, has introduced a new service to facilitate the collection of bulky waste directly from residents’ homes. This initiative, operational since October 1, 2025, aims to simplify the disposal of large items while promoting the circular economy.
TRUSK entrusted with operational deployment
To ensure the efficient deployment of this service across the territory, ILOé has chosen to partner with TRUSK, a company specializing in last-mile delivery for heavy and bulky items. This collaboration leverages TRUSK’s logistical expertise to provide a convenient solution for residents.
Nearly 7,500 collections in five months
In the first five months of the program, nearly 7,500 collections have been carried out across the Lyon metropolis, recovering over 550 tons of items. This demonstrates a significant demand for such a service and its positive impact on waste management.
Benjamin Pallière, Circular Economy Project Manager at ILOé, highlighted the dual benefits of the program. “This project is a successful example of an approach designed to meet the needs of residents of the Métropole de Lyon, and which has set ambitions for the economic development of the territory: reuse, ESS/Private partnership, integration,” he explained.
Sarah Gimenez-Fauvety, General Director of TRUSK, emphasized her company’s commitment to the environmental aspect of the project. “We are proud to put our expertise at the service of this impactful project. Alongside ILOé, our ambition is to make the collection of old items fluid and free in order to accelerate reuse,” she stated.
Developing a second-life sector for equipment
The two organizations have been collaborating since June 2024 on the home collection of large household appliances, in partnership with the eco-organization ecosystem. The new mission entrusted to TRUSK builds on this existing collaboration, aiming to structure a dedicated sector for the second life of equipment. This contributes to waste reduction and fosters local employment.
Key players in the circular economy
Founded in 2016, TRUSK specializes in urban logistics and last-mile delivery for heavy and bulky items. The company supports over 500 businesses in the furniture, appliance, and DIY sectors with tailored delivery solutions.
ILOé, a cooperative based in Villeurbanne, operates a 3,500 m² industrial platform dedicated to sorting bulky waste and urban waste to promote their reuse and recycling. The cooperative brings together various local stakeholders, including the Métropole de Lyon, social landlords, organizations for integration through economic activity, reuse actors, and industrialists.
This partnership between ILOé and TRUSK exemplifies a successful collaboration between a local actor and a logistics specialist, driving forward the circular economy in the Lyon Metropolis and offering a valuable service to its residents.
