24th Fatal Accident in Rhône in 2026
This incident marks the 24th fatal accident on the roads of the Rhône department since the beginning of 2026. Among these 24 fatalities, eight were motorcyclists or motorcycle passengers, and seven were car occupants. This figure includes the driver killed in the night of Saturday, June 13, to Sunday, June 14, after hitting a bus in Bron, whose car was found to contain a nitrous oxide canister, a dose of narcotics, and an alcohol bottle.
Additionally, three pedestrians, two cyclists, one person on a scooter, one in a van, one in a heavy goods vehicle, and one in a light utility vehicle have also died on the department’s roads since January.
While tragic, the current number of fatalities is lower than in 2025, when 28 deaths were recorded over the same period, including seven pedestrians. However, the consistent number of motorcycle-related fatalities remains a concern for road safety authorities.
Authorities continue to urge all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
