14-year-old charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Lyon suburb

Lyon, France – A 14-year-old minor has been charged with attempted murder and placed in provisional detention following a knife attack that seriously injured a 15-year-old high school student in a Lyon suburb on Monday. The prosecutor’s office confirmed the charges on Friday.

Another Teenager Charged in Connection with the Incident

Another adolescent, also 14 years old, has been charged with failing to assist the victim and for helping the primary suspect evade justice. This second teenager has been placed under judicial supervision, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Violent Attack Near High School

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon near the victim’s high school in Bron, a suburb of Lyon. The 15-year-old student sustained multiple stab wounds, including one under the armpit. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, though his prognosis has since improved.

Suspect Identified and Apprehended

Police quickly identified the alleged assailant and went to his home, but he was not present. The suspect later turned himself in to a police station in Villeurbanne the following day.
