LYON, France – December 15, 2025 – Six individuals were hospitalized after being bitten by a dog on Sunday evening near the SNCF Perrache station in Lyon. The incident, which occurred in a pedestrian tunnel, has prompted a police investigation.

Dog Attack in Pedestrian Tunnel Near Perrache

The events unfolded starting around 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, in a pedestrian and cyclist tunnel located close to the Brasserie Georges, just a few meters from the Perrache SNCF station. An unspecified breed of dog reportedly attacked several people over a period of several hours.

According to information obtained by Actu Lyon, the dog’s breed has not yet been determined. The attacks led to multiple injuries, with six victims requiring medical attention.

Six Victims Hospitalized at Saint-Joseph-Saint-Luc

The severity of the situation became clear when the Saint-Joseph-Saint-Luc hospital contacted police around 9:00 PM to report that six individuals had presented to the emergency room with dog bites. Fortunately, none of the victims’ injuries were life-threatening upon their arrival at the hospital.

The victims received treatment for their injuries, and their condition is currently stable. The incident has raised concerns about public safety in the area, particularly given the proximity to a major transportation hub.

Investigation Underway to Identify Dog and Owner

A preliminary investigation has been launched by the police to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the attack. Initial findings suggest that the dog may belong to a homeless person known to frequent the area. However, as of Monday, December 15, neither the alleged owner nor the dog involved in the attacks have been located, despite extensive searches conducted by law enforcement in the vicinity.

Police are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the dog and its owner. Further investigations are ongoing to gather more details and determine the full extent of the incident. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information about the dog or its owner to come forward.

The incident highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need for vigilance in public spaces. Local authorities are likely to review safety measures in the area to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
