Paris, January 14 – An 80-year-old woman was violently attacked and robbed in her residence on Rue Osvaldo Cruz in the 16th arrondissement of Paris during the night of Monday, January 12, to Tuesday, January 13. Three individuals broke into her home around 4:20 AM, assaulting the victim before fleeing with a safe containing jewelry estimated to be worth approximately 25,000 euros.

Victim Suffers Injuries, Hospitalized

The victim sustained injuries, including a fractured nose, and was transported to the hospital by firefighters. Authorities were alerted immediately following the incident. The suspects managed to escape in a car after the robbery.

Swift Police Response Leads to Arrests

A rapid police response led to the apprehension of the suspects. Around 5:15 AM, the three individuals were spotted near Square Alboni. Officers from BAC 16 intercepted two of the suspects in their vehicle, where the stolen loot was recovered. The third suspect, who had fled in a separate vehicle, was arrested shortly thereafter at the intersection of Avenue Georges V and Rue Marbeuf in the 8th arrondissement.

Investigation Underway for Organized Robbery with Violence

The three suspects were taken into police custody. The Paris public prosecutor’s office confirmed that an investigation has been opened for “organized robbery committed with violence.” According to the prosecutor’s office, the victim was born in 1945. The arrested suspects were born in May 1994, October 2006, and November 2000, all in France. They remained in custody as of Tuesday noon. The prosecutor’s office added that the suspects were apprehended “shortly after as they were transferring the loot.”
