Paris, December 13 – A spectacular fireworks display near the Eiffel Tower, organized by popular French influencer Loris Giuliano, has led to an official investigation by the Paris public prosecutor’s office. The event, which took place on Friday evening at the Trocadéro, was not authorized by city authorities and has raised concerns about public safety.
Influencer Celebrates Video Release with Unauthorized Display
Loris Giuliano, who boasts nearly two million subscribers on YouTube, posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “Well, special video, special release, and special announcement just for you and for Napoli.” Around 10 PM on Friday, Giuliano filmed himself in front of the “wild” fireworks display at the Place du Trocadéro, directly opposite the iconic Eiffel Tower.
In a video widely shared across his social media platforms, Giuliano, wearing a “Napoli Tour” t-shirt, is seen admiring the spectacle alongside curious onlookers. He expressed his immense joy on camera, linking the fireworks to the release of his latest YouTube video. This video reportedly delves into Giuliano’s Italian heritage and his passion for the Napoli football club.
Investigation Launched for Public Endangerment and Illicit Possession of Fireworks
Despite the visual appeal of the fireworks, the Paris public prosecutor’s office confirmed to Le Figaro that the event was not declared to the competent authorities. Consequently, an investigation has been launched for “endangering others through a manifestly deliberate violation of a safety or prudence obligation.”
The prosecutor’s office has also included charges for “carrying or transporting, without legitimate reason, non-detonating pyrotechnic devices” and “possession by an unauthorized person of category 2 and 3 entertainment fireworks designed to be launched by a mortar.”
As of Saturday morning, the influencer has not directly addressed the investigation. His only public response to comments on his video was a simple “it’s beautiful,” accompanied by blue heart emojis, mirroring the colors of Napoli.
Growing Concerns Over Unauthorized Public Events
This incident highlights a growing concern in urban areas regarding unauthorized public events, particularly those involving pyrotechnics. Local authorities often require permits and safety assessments for such displays to ensure the protection of the public and property.
The Trocadéro, a popular tourist destination, is frequently used for public gatherings and events. However, strict regulations are in place to manage these activities, especially those that could pose a risk to the large crowds that often congregate in the area.
The investigation will likely examine how the fireworks were acquired and set off, as well as the potential risks posed to the public by the unsanctioned display. The outcome of the inquiry could have significant implications for the influencer and may lead to stricter enforcement of regulations concerning public events in Paris.
