The Forum des Images in Paris will host the second edition of the International Overseas Documentary Film Festival, titled “Demain” (Tomorrow), from November 4 to 8, 2026. Organized jointly by France Télévisions’ Overseas division and the Forum des Images, this event features a selection of documentary films from major overseas territories. These films were first brought together in mainland France during the inaugural edition in 2025.

The “Demain” Festival Returns to the Heart of Paris

Following a successful first edition in 2025, the International Overseas Documentary Film Festival “Demain” is back at the Forum des Images in Paris, located in the heart of the Westfield Forum des Halles. This cinematic event, a joint effort between France Télévisions’ Overseas division and the Forum des Images, has become a unique platform for dialogue between overseas territories and the mainland French public. Both institutions share common values regarding the transmission of memories, cultures, and contemporary issues.

The first edition attracted 3,500 spectators, featuring 11 documentary films, 2 fiction films, 5 roundtables, and around thirty speakers. This encouraging outcome has led the two partners to renew their collaboration for a second edition, scheduled from November 4 to 8, 2026. The festival is thus establishing itself as a cultural event rooted in the Parisian landscape, with an ambition that extends beyond Île-de-France to amplify the voices of all French territories.

This year’s program will feature a new selection of the best films from the three major documentary festivals supported by France Télévisions’ Overseas division: the FIFO (International Oceanian Film Festival, Polynesia), the FIFAC (International Amazonia-Caribbean Documentary Film Festival, French Guiana), and the FIFOI (International Indian Ocean Film Festival, Réunion Island). This programming aims to showcase a country rich in its diverse geographies and cultures.

A Documentary Program Giving Voice to Overseas Territories

The “Demain” festival is distinguished by its unifying mission: it brings together, for the first time in mainland France, documentary works typically screened in their regions of origin. By offering a Parisian platform for these films, the festival allows the mainland public to discover often little-known realities, stories, and challenges, presented by committed filmmakers from across the French overseas territories.

Beyond the screenings, the “Demain” festival also serves as a space for meeting and reflection. Roundtables organized alongside the screenings delve deeper into the themes addressed in the films, with the participation of experts from the cinema world, research, and civil society. These discussions are central to the festival’s identity, which not only presents images but also encourages understanding and debate on contemporary issues facing overseas territories. The renewal of this partnership between France Télévisions’ Overseas division and the Forum des Images underscores the strength of a collaboration built on complementary expertise. On one side, an audiovisual institution that has been producing and broadcasting documentary content on overseas territories for decades; on the other, a leading venue dedicated to cinema and animated images, committed to promoting the diversity of cinematic forms and perspectives.

How to Get to the Forum des Images in Paris?

The Forum des Images is very well served by Parisian public transport. Several metro lines stop in the immediate vicinity:

  • Metro Line 4: Les Halles station (exit Saint-Eustache, Place Carrée)
  • Metro Lines 1, 7, and 14: Châtelet station (exit Place Carrée)
  • RER A, B, and D: Châtelet-Les Halles station (exit Rambuteau then Forum, Place Carrée)
  • Buses: Lines 67, 74, and 85 stop at Coquillière les Halles.

For visitors wishing to come by car, access is primarily via Rue des Halles. The Les Halles-Saint Eustache car park (entrance Rue des Halles) is the most convenient option. The Westfield Forum des Halles also offers parking spaces with charging stations for electric vehicles. Please note that on-street parking is limited to two hours in this area of Paris, making underground car parks the most reliable option. The venue is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility via the Rambuteau door elevator of the Westfield Forum des Halles (level -3, Rue du Cinéma). All three screening rooms are adapted for PMR, and specialized equipment, including an electromagnetic induction loop for the hearing impaired, is available.

Our advice: Prioritize public transport to reach the Forum des Images. Châtelet-Les Halles station (RER A, B, D) offers the most direct and convenient access from anywhere in Paris and its region.
