The initiative aimed to increase the visibility of female chefs in Lyon’s culinary landscape and to celebrate their contributions. The event, held at Ballad Café in the 7th arrondissement, featured a weekend of gourmet experiences and discussions, including roundtables and meetings focused on the position of women in gastronomy. Film Screening and Debate: “La Maison des femmes”
On Sunday, March 8th, Pathé Vaise cinema in the 9th arrondissement hosted a special screening of the film “La Maison des femmes,” directed by Mélisa Godet. This documentary chronicles the daily life at “La Maison des femmes” in Saint-Denis, a unique center established in 2016 to support women who are victims of violence. Following the screening, the film’s producer and members of Lyon’s “Maison des femmes” team engaged in a discussion with the audience about the themes explored in the film. Reservations were mandatory due to limited seating.
Citizen Mobilization: March for Women’s Rights
As is customary, several feminist collectives organized a demonstration in the streets of Lyon to advocate for women’s rights and denounce persistent inequalities. The march addressed various demands, including equal pay, an end to gender-based and sexual violence, and improved access to rights. The procession brought together associations, trade unions, student groups, and citizens, all marching to underscore that the fight for equality remains a pressing issue.
