Multi-convicted Businessman Eric Robic Shot Dead in Neuilly-sur-Seine

Neuilly-sur-Seine, April 17 – Eric Robic, a 51-year-old businessman with a history of multiple convictions, was fatally shot yesterday morning outside his residence in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). Two individuals, believed to be the shooter and an accomplice, fled the scene on a scooter and are currently the subject of an intensive manhunt.

The brazen crime unfolded in broad daylight around 9:20 AM on Thursday, April 16, in front of 49, boulevard Victor Hugo, an upscale area of Neuilly-sur-Seine. Witnesses reported seeing a man leaving his home when he was shot. Despite immediate calls to emergency services and the rapid intervention of firefighters, the victim succumbed to his injuries, with his death confirmed at 10:15 AM.

Two Suspects Flee on Scooter

According to a witness contacted by TF1-LCI, the victim was hit by at least “one shot to the head.” The same source indicated that two individuals, at least one of whom was armed, fled the scene on a scooter in the direction of Rue Saint-Paul in Levallois. The perpetrators carried out the attack while on their two-wheeled vehicle.

A large security perimeter was immediately established at the crime scene to allow investigators from the Parisian judicial police’s criminal brigade, who are leading the investigation, to collect evidence and conduct their findings.

Victim Known to Justice System

The victim has been formally identified as Eric Robic, born in May 1974. He was well-known to the justice system, with a criminal record detailing twelve convictions dating back to 1994. “His judicial record includes twelve convictions since 1994. He had been convicted for financial offenses, particularly to the detriment of car dealerships and banking organizations, as well as for aggravated involuntary manslaughter by a driver,” stated Laure Beccuau, the Public Prosecutor of Paris, in a press release.

Eric Robic had previously made headlines and strained Franco-Israeli relations after killing a young Israeli woman, Lee Zeitouni, in Tel Aviv in 2011 while driving a 4×4. He subsequently fled to France.

In December 2014, he was sentenced by the Paris Criminal Court to five years in prison for “aggravated involuntary manslaughter.” The sentence included a committal order for immediate incarceration, while the car’s passenger, Claude Khayat, received a 15-month prison sentence.

Furthermore, in January 2024, as part of a large-scale international fraud involving one million euros related to the purchase of cars through shell companies, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, entirely suspended with a two-year probationary period, including the obligation to work, pay outstanding amounts to the State, and compensate the victims.

Investigation Transferred to JIRS

“Following the referral from the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, which conducted the initial investigations, the Paris Interregional Specialized Jurisdiction (JIRS) prosecutor’s office has taken over the investigation… The investigative framework and the service in charge will be specified in the coming hours,” added Magistrate Beccuau.

The police are continuing their efforts to locate the two suspects and determine the precise circumstances and motives behind the assassination of Eric Robic.
