Limay, Yvelines – Residents of Limay and the right bank of the Seine are set to benefit from a significant improvement in public transport with the announcement of a new Express A14 bus line. This new route will directly link Limay to La Défense, a major business district, starting in 2027. The decision was officially confirmed on Friday, December 19, 2025, during mobility workshops organized by the Grand Paris Seine & Oise (GPS&O) urban community and Île-de-France Mobilités, attended by Limay Mayor Djamel Nedjar.

A Long-Awaited Improvement for Limay Residents

The new Express A14 line will no longer originate from Mantes-la-Jolie but directly from Limay. This strategic change is part of an effort to rebalance transport options between the two banks of the Seine and aligns with the scheduled arrival of the RER E (Eole) in the Mantois region in 2027.

Mayor Djamel Nedjar expressed his satisfaction with the decision, stating to Actu.fr, “This is excellent news. It is a positive response to long-standing demands I had made to the regional president, Valérie Pécresse.” This initiative represents a crucial step forward in enhancing the mobility of local residents and facilitating their daily commutes to La Défense.

Strategic Stops and Reduced Travel Times

The new line will feature two designated stops within Limay. The first will be located in the upper part of the commune, in the Fosses Rouges sector, while the second will be near the Lafarge Pole. From these points, buses will quickly access the ring road to join the A13 and then the A14 motorways, ensuring a direct and rapid connection to La Défense. This optimized route is expected to significantly reduce travel times for commuters, offering a viable alternative to private vehicle use.

Timeline and Further Discussions

While the launch of the new service is tentatively planned for 2027, coinciding with the introduction of Eole, some aspects of the timeline remain under discussion. Initially, the RER E will operate with only three trains per hour, with an increase to six trains expected by 2029 or 2030. Mayor Nedjar is actively advocating for the bus service to commence in Limay in 2027, rather than being delayed until 2030. “We are campaigning for the bus to pass through Limay in 2027 and not 2030. This is a subject that is still under discussion with GPS&O and Île-de-France Mobilités,” he clarified. The timely implementation of this line is critical for residents of the right bank, who are eager for tangible improvements in their public transport options.

Enhancing Accessibility to New Stops

Beyond the Express A14 line, Mayor Nedjar also seeks to strengthen bus lines 5401 and 5406. The goal is to ensure efficient and frequent connections between these two future Express A14 stops and the broader area. This approach aims to create a coherent territorial network, enabling users to easily reach the express line’s departure points without relying solely on personal vehicles. Such measures are expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the bridges crossing the Seine and reduce recurring bottlenecks in the region.

Lionel Giraud, Mayor of Issou, also welcomed the announcement, stating, “We were hoping for this good news in the second half of 2026. It has arrived much sooner, and we are delighted.” This new service is anticipated to benefit all surrounding municipalities, viewing the project as an opportunity to open up the area and improve access to employment opportunities within the La Défense basin.

In summary, the upcoming express bus line between Limay and La Défense represents a significant advancement for mobility in the Yvelines. The remaining task is to finalize the scheduling details to ensure this connection becomes a reality by 2027.
