Nuit Blanche 2025: Paris Embraces Cinema for its 24th Edition
Paris, February 15, 2026 – The 24th edition of Nuit Blanche, the city’s celebrated contemporary art event, is set to captivate audiences on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This year, under the artistic direction of Valérie Donzelli, Paris will be transformed into an “immense film set,” offering a unique blend of cinematic experiences, art installations, and performances across the capital and the Grand Paris Métropole.
Co-organized with La Métropole du Grand Paris, Nuit Blanche, established in 2002, has grown into a cornerstone of Parisian cultural life. For its 2025 iteration, the event will notably highlight the world of cinema, promising to turn public spaces into “ephemeral projection screens.”
Key Highlights of Nuit Blanche 2025
Several significant events are planned to mark this cinematic theme:
- City-wide Projections: Various locations across Paris will host film screenings. The “Les 7 Parnassiens” cinema in the 14th arrondissement will showcase video works centered on the theme of resistance, featuring artists such as Anne-Charlotte Finel, Clément Cogitore, and Alice Brygo.
- Open-Air Screenings: Public spaces will become open-air cinemas with projections planned at the Saint-Paul 9 gardens sports ground (Paris Centre), Quai de Valmy (10th arrondissement), and at Place Ferdinand-Brunot (14th), Place Nathalie-Sarraute (18th), and Place des Fêtes (19th).
- Île-Saint-Louis Installations: The Île-Saint-Louis will host projects by Céline Bozon in Square Barye and Place Aragon, and Adrien Lamm, also in Square Barye.
- Michel Gondry’s Contribution: A 10-minute animated film by Michel Gondry, titled “Quelle Nuit Blanche!”, will be projected at Place Raoul-Dautry in the 15th arrondissement. Gondry is also the artist behind the official poster for Nuit Blanche 2025.
Carine Rolland, Deputy Mayor of Paris for Culture, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This vibrant program gives us a magnificent opportunity to celebrate 130 years of cinema and its ever-renewed history with Paris.”
Beyond Cinema: Diverse Artistic Offerings
While cinema takes center stage, Nuit Blanche 2025 will also feature a diverse range of contemporary art forms:
- Sorbonne Chapel: An immersive sound and light installation will be presented in the chapel of the Sorbonne (5th arrondissement).
- La Bidassoa Gymnasium: A dynamic DJ set will animate the gymnasium of La Bidassoa (20th arrondissement).
- Petit Palais: The Petit Palais (8th arrondissement) will host additional projections and performances.
- Catacombs Debut: For the first time ever, Nuit Blanche will venture into the Catacombs of Paris, offering an unprecedented sound and visual journey.
Furthermore, associated programming will be offered by institutions such as the Cognacq-Jay Museum, Victor Hugo’s House, and the Fondation EDF. Several communes within the Grand Paris Métropole will also participate, continuing a tradition that began in 2019.
Nuit Blanche Shifts to June Permanently
Following a citizen vote, Nuit Blanche has permanently moved to June. The decision to shift the event from October to June, effective since 2023, was made to ensure more favorable weather conditions for attendees. The 2021 edition was notably affected by rain and wind, prompting a consultation that led to the unanimous preference for June. This change aims to enhance the overall experience for the thousands of visitors who explore the city’s artistic offerings throughout the night.
