As the last week before the Christmas holidays approaches, commuters and travelers in Paris and the Île-de-France region should be aware of several public transport disruptions. From December 15 to 21, 2025, metro, RER, Transilien, and tramway lines will experience interruptions, mainly during night hours, due to ongoing maintenance works by RATP and SNCF.

Metro and Tramway Disruptions (December 15-21)

Metro:

  • Line 1: Until January 4, access to Tuileries station will be closed every weekend from 4 PM to 11:45 PM due to high traffic at the Christmas market. Use Concorde or Palais-Royal stations instead.

Tramway:

  • T1: Service is interrupted between Asnières-Quatre Routes and Gare de Saint-Denis and disrupted on the rest of the line following damage by a third party in L’Île-Saint-Denis. A replacement bus service is in place. Normal service is not expected to resume until summer 2026.
  • T2: Until the end of February 2026, service is interrupted between Porte de Versailles and Suzanne Lenglen due to major modernization works. To reach Porte de Versailles from Suzanne Lenglen, walk to the T3a Balard station.
  • T4: From Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, service is interrupted between Gargan and Aulnay-sous-Bois from 12:55 AM. Trams will run between Bondy and Hôpital de Montfermeil until the end of service, serving stations between Bondy and Gargan. A replacement bus service will cover intermediate stations.

RER Disruptions (December 15-21)

Several RER lines crossing the Île-de-France region will experience nocturnal interruptions:

  • RER A: Until December 19, from Monday to Friday starting at 9:50 PM, service is interrupted between Cergy-Le Haut and Maisons-Laffitte due to works. This interruption concludes this week.
  • RER B: No disruptions reported this week. Normal service expected.
  • RER C: This line remains the most affected. Until January 11, the Issy stop is not served towards Dourdan-la-Forêt, Saint-Martin-d’Étampes, and Massy-Palaiseau. From 11:45 PM on Sunday, December 21, service is interrupted between Paris Austerlitz and Dourdan/Saint-Martin-d’Étampes. Until December 19, the same interruption occurs from 11:45 PM from Javel towards Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and between Versailles Château Rive Gauche and Javel. Similar interruptions from 11:30 PM between Gare d’Austerlitz and Dourdan/Saint-Martin-d’Étampes, and from 11 PM between Juvisy and Paris Austerlitz, as well as between Paris Austerlitz and Pont de Rungis.
  • RER D: From Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, on weekdays from 11:15 PM, service is interrupted between Gare de Lyon and Melun, as well as between Gare de Lyon and Corbeil-Essonnes. Until December 24, from Monday to Friday starting at 11:30 PM, interruption between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon due to works. Until January 3 (excluding public holidays), service is interrupted on weekdays from 11:35 PM between Paris Gare du Nord and Creil.
  • RER E: From Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, service is interrupted between Nanterre-la-Folie and Chelles Gournay from 10:45 PM due to works. A replacement bus service is available for intermediate stations.

Transilien Disruptions (December 15-21)

The Transilien network continues its numerous nocturnal works before the holiday break:

  • Line H: From December 15 to 19 inclusive, Monday to Friday from 11:35 PM to 4:30 AM, service will be interrupted between Gare du Nord and Ermont-Eaubonne/Sarcelles-Saint-Brice due to works.
  • Line J: On December 16 from 9:25 PM to 3 AM, service will be interrupted between Pontoise and Gisors due to works. From Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, service is interrupted between Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and Mantes-la-Jolie. From Monday, December 15 to Tuesday, December 30 (except December 25, Saturdays, and Sundays), service is interrupted between Sartrouville and Les Mureaux, as well as between Sartrouville and Mantes-la-Jolie.
  • Line K: On Saturday, December 20, from 5 AM to 7:15 AM, service is interrupted between Crépy-en-Valois and Mitry-Claye. Until December 20, service is interrupted on weekdays in the evening from 8:10 PM between Gare du Nord and Crépy-en-Valois.
  • Line L: Until December 19 inclusive, Monday to Friday from 9:50 PM, service is interrupted between Sartrouville and Maisons-Laffitte, as well as between Saint-Cloud and Versailles Rive Droite due to works.
  • Line N: From December 15 to 20 inclusive, every evening from 1 AM, service will be interrupted between Gare Montparnasse and Versailles Chantiers due to works.
  • Line P: Until December 19, on weekdays from 8:45 PM, service will be interrupted between Paris Est and Provins. The same applies from 10 PM between Paris Est and Château-Thierry. And between Paris and Coulommiers from 8:30 PM towards Paris and 9:15 PM towards Coulommiers.
  • Line R: From December 15 to 19 inclusive, from 10:30 PM to 4 AM, service will be interrupted between Gare de Lyon and Montereau via Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons, as well as between Montargis and Gare de Lyon due to works.
  • Line U: Until Friday, December 19, on weekdays from 10 PM, service is interrupted between La Défense and La Verrière due to railway works. A replacement bus service is available.

How to Plan Your Travel Before Christmas

This final week before the Christmas holidays is expected to be busy with last-minute shopping, outings, and professional travel. To avoid unpleasant surprises, regularly consult the Bonjour RATP and SNCF Connect applications for real-time information. If you plan to do your Christmas shopping in the evening, allow extra travel time, as most interruptions start between 8 PM and 11 PM.
