Paris, April 9, 2026 – Commuters using Metro Line 12 in Paris are advised to prepare for significant disruptions as evening service will be interrupted from 10 PM on selected days until August 2026. These closures are part of an ongoing modernization effort to accommodate the new MF19 metro trains, already seen on Line 10.
Extensive Disruptions for Line 12 Modernization
Île-de-France Mobilités has announced a detailed schedule of service interruptions for Metro Line 12, which connects Aubervilliers to Mairie d’Issy. The primary reason for these planned closures is the necessary modifications to the platforms and infrastructure to integrate the new MF19 train models. While many disruptions across the network are scheduled for the summer, Line 12 will see consistent evening closures, particularly impacting night-time travel.
Since January 2026, Line 12 has experienced early closures at 10 PM, two to three times a week. This new phase of disruptions extends until August, primarily on Wednesdays and Sundays, making evening travel considerably more challenging for regular users.
Detailed Schedule of Evening Closures (from 10 PM)
- April: Wednesday 1st, Sunday 5th, Wednesday 8th, Sunday 12th
- May: Sunday 10th, Sunday 17th
- June: Wednesday 3rd, Sunday 7th, Wednesday 10th, Sunday 14th, Wednesday 17th, Sunday 21st, Wednesday 24th, Sunday 28th
- July: Wednesday 1st, Sunday 5th, Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th, Sunday 19th, Thursday 23rd, Sunday 26th, Thursday 30th
- August: Wednesday 19th, Sunday 23rd, Wednesday 26th, Sunday 30th
In addition to these regular evening closures, a full interruption of service is planned for Sunday, May 31, 2026, between Porte de Versailles and Mairie d’Issy. Furthermore, a section of the line between Jules Joffrin and Concorde will be closed from July 16 to July 26 as part of summer works.
Impact on Commuters and Alternative Transport
These prolonged evening interruptions will undoubtedly affect the daily routines of thousands of Parisians and visitors who rely on Line 12 for their evening commutes and activities. Users are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative modes of transport such as buses, other metro lines, or ride-sharing services.
The introduction of new, modern trains aims to improve the overall quality and efficiency of public transport in Paris. However, the transitional period requires significant infrastructure work, leading to these temporary inconveniences.
Ongoing Transport Developments in Île-de-France
The disruptions on Line 12 are part of a broader program of public transport upgrades across Paris and the Île-de-France region. This includes the development of new metro lines, automation projects, and the continuous renewal of train fleets. These transformations are expected to continue for several years, ultimately enhancing the region’s transport network.
Commuters are encouraged to regularly check the official Île-de-France Mobilités website for the latest updates and to plan their travel accordingly.
