Philippe Arsac Crowned Best Pastry Chef in Greater Paris 2026

Paris, February 25, 2026 – In a city renowned as a gastronomic capital, culinary competitions are a regular feature. The prestigious Best Pastry Chef of Greater Paris Trophy is one such event, and this year’s winner has been announced. Philippe Arsac, a 25-year-old artisan from Lorette bakery in the 13th arrondissement, has claimed the coveted first place.

Over 80 Artisans Competed in the 17th Edition

Organized by the Syndicat des boulangers du Grand Paris, the 17th edition of the competition saw 86 artisans from Paris and its inner suburbs vying for the title. The demanding jury evaluated their creations, which showcased both technical skill and delicious flavors. Candidates were challenged to reinterpret two French pastry classics: the chocolate éclair and the lemon tart (without meringue).

Each professional had to present eight individual pieces, judged on several criteria including baking, flavor balance, cream texture, and presentation. After careful tasting and deliberation, the jury made its decision, awarding the top prize to Philippe Arsac.

A Young Talent’s Audacious Interpretation

This is a significant achievement for Arsac, who joined his father’s business just four years ago after completing his professional baccalaureate and various training courses. Initially a viennoiserie chef and then a pastry chef, Philippe Arsac distinguished himself with an audacious interpretation of the two classic pastries.

For the chocolate éclair, Arsac opted for an entirely chocolate choux pastry, enriched with a crunchy craquelin. His lemon tart featured a subtle use of bergamot, adding freshness and a distinctive aromatic signature. These winning creations are available at all four Lorette bakeries, located in the 13th, 14th, and 15th arrondissements.

The family group’s bakeries now boast the title of having the best pastry chef in Greater Paris. The Lorette bakery at 2 rue de la Butte-aux-Cailles, 75013 Paris, is open every day except Wednesday, from 7 am to 8 pm.

The Podium: Other Talented Pastry Chefs Recognized

Behind Philippe Arsac, the podium for the 2026 edition also recognized Boulangerie Paris and Co in the 15th arrondissement, and Les Délices de Fred in Perreux-sur-Marne, highlighting the depth of talent within the region’s pastry scene.

This competition underscores the vibrant and competitive spirit within Paris’s culinary landscape, constantly pushing artisans to innovate and perfect their craft for the delight of gourmands.
