Following snowfall in western France, Paris, and the Île-de-France region on Monday, the Rhône department is now preparing for its own winter weather. Météo-France has confirmed a high probability of snow beginning Tuesday, January 6th, with further accumulations expected on Wednesday.

First Flakes Expected Tuesday Morning Across Rhône

According to Météo-France, the first snowflakes are anticipated on Tuesday morning in several areas of the Rhône department, including Trades, Thizy, Belleville, Villefranche-sur-Saône, Tarare, L’Arbresle, and Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize. These initial accumulations are expected to be lighter compared to the snowfall experienced in western France on Monday.

By Tuesday afternoon, snow showers are also possible in Trades, Thizy, Tarare, L’Arbresle, Lyon, Soucieu-en-Jarrest, and Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize.

Widespread Snowfall Predicted for Wednesday Afternoon

Wednesday afternoon is expected to bring more widespread snowfall across the entire Rhône department. Météo-France forecasts snow to cover the entire region on Wednesday, January 7th. This snowy offensive is set to continue into Wednesday evening and through the night into Thursday in the northern parts of the Rhône, specifically in Trades, Beaujeu, Belleville, Villefranche-sur-Saône, Tarare, Neuville, Lyon, Pusignan, and Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize.

Mixed Precipitation and Temperature Fluctuations Expected Later in the Week

On Thursday, a mix of rain and snow is forecast for the entire department, preceding a brief rise in temperatures. Further snow and rain are possible on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday, though these later forecasts are still subject to confirmation.

Current Weather Alert and Future Outlook

The Rhône department is currently under a yellow vigilance alert for “Grand Froid” (severe cold) for at least Monday and Tuesday. Residents are advised to stay informed about changing weather conditions and to exercise caution.
