Three-Year-Old Girl Reportedly Sexually Assaulted at Children’s Home Near Lyon
Frontenas, February 19, 2026 – A three-year-old girl has allegedly been the victim of sexual assaults by older children at the Les Pierres Dorées children’s home in Frontenas, Rhône, near Lyon. The lawyer representing the child’s father has described the situation as being of “extreme gravity.” Complaints have been filed, and an investigation has been opened by the Villefranche-sur-Saône public prosecutor’s office.
The Les Pierres Dorées home specializes in accommodating minors in difficulty. The initial allegations surfaced during a visitation on January 6, 2026, when the young girl reportedly made statements suggesting sexual touching by a seven-year-old child also residing at the home. These incidents allegedly occurred in common areas and during hygiene routines.
Immediate Measures Expected, but Similar Incidents Followed
According to Maître Romane Hemery, the father’s lawyer, these details were immediately communicated to the care facility and judicial authorities. “Given the gravity of the reported facts and the extreme vulnerability of a three-year-old child, immediate protective measures were imperatively expected, particularly during identified sensitive moments,” Maître Hemery stated to actu Lyon.
Despite this, less than a week later, on January 12, 2026, similar incidents were again reported at the Les Pierres Dorées home, this time involving the three-year-old girl and another child aged six. These subsequent events were reportedly witnessed by a professional from the establishment, according to the lawyer.
Following these allegations, complaints were filed with the competent authorities. The victim has been interviewed, and a medical examination was conducted after the initial reported incidents.
Departmental Response and Concerns Over Supervision
The Rhône Department confirmed that it had been informed of the events. “The teams immediately took the necessary measures regarding placement and support, including medical assistance,” the territorial collectivity affirmed, adding that “this situation has been reported to the judicial authority.” The Department also highlighted the “responsiveness of the professionals of the ACOLEA foundation and Rhône agents, fully mobilized in the service of child protection.”
Maître Hemery expressed concern regarding a “moment of fluctuation” reportedly occurring after showers, during which children were allegedly not subject to effective supervision and guidance. This information was reportedly conveyed to the child’s parent, who expressed shock and incomprehension.
The three-year-old child had been placed in the care home because her mother, who was responsible for her, was in a “too precarious” situation. The lawyer for the victim’s parent argued that this placement appears to have “exposed a particularly vulnerable child to serious risks to her physical and psychological integrity,” emphasizing that this is “the exact opposite of the aim of a placement measure intended to protect the child from all danger.”
The Villefranche-sur-Saône public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Thursday, February 19, the opening of an investigation into “sexual assault on a minor under 15 years old,” without providing further details.
