Paris, July 4 – A fire erupted this Saturday morning, July 4, on Rue Cardinet in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, leading to the urgent hospitalization of two individuals whose lives are now at risk. The incident, which required the mobilization of approximately sixty firefighters, began in the cellar of a six-story building.
Emergency Services Respond to Blaze
The alarm was raised around 10:30 AM when a fire started in the 50-square-meter cellar of the building located at 77 Rue Cardinet. Firefighters from the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) swiftly responded to the scene, deploying a significant force to contain the blaze and rescue trapped occupants.
“Upon arrival, firefighters faced a challenging situation due to the heavy smoke emanating from the cellar, which had spread throughout the service stairwell up to the 6th floor,” stated a spokesperson for the BSPP. “Progress was very complicated due to the density of the smoke.”
Two Victims in Cardiorespiratory Arrest
During the rescue operation, three individuals were evacuated from the building. Two of the victims, found in the cellar, suffered cardiorespiratory arrest and were immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition, with their vital prognoses engaged. The third victim, found on an upper floor, sustained only minor injuries.
Fire Brought Under Control After Two Hours
The intense efforts of the firefighters brought the blaze under control by approximately 12:30 PM. The rapid response and coordinated actions of the emergency services were crucial in preventing further casualties and limiting the damage to the building.
