The 22nd edition of the Quais du Polar festival is fast approaching, and University Lumière Lyon 2 is set to be a key participant in the festivities. The festival, dedicated to crime fiction, will take place from April 3 to 5 in Lyon, with the university hosting a variety of engaging events.
Student-led Initiatives and Author Encounters
As part of the festival, anthropology students from University Lumière Lyon 2 have produced a five-episode podcast. This podcast is an investigative series based on interviews with authors, readers, and booksellers who are integral to the “dark novel” genre, offering unique insights into the world of crime fiction.
In parallel, the university will welcome renowned author Franck Thilliez on April 3 for an exceptional meeting. Thilliez will engage in a discussion about the intricate links between justice and psychiatry. He will be joined by university teachers and experts in law and psychology, including Daniel Zagury, who notably worked on the high-profile Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès case.
Investigative Journalism and Public Participation
University libraries will also host investigative journalist Jake Adelstein. He will discuss the adaptation of his autobiographical book, “Tokyo Vice,” into a television series. This event will be moderated by students from the Master’s programs in Book and Publishing Trades, and Cinema and Audiovisual, providing a valuable opportunity for students to engage with a prominent figure in media.
The programming extends beyond student involvement, with a special event open to the public. On Saturday, April 4, an “university murder” workshop, focusing on criminology, will invite participants to step into the shoes of neurocognition and criminology specialists to solve an investigation. This interactive session promises to be both educational and thrilling for attendees.
