Lyon, December 22 – Ski enthusiasts rejoice! BlaBlaCar Bus has announced the launch of a new bus line connecting Lyon directly to the ski slopes of the Alps, with fares starting from an attractive 5.49. This initiative, set to begin this winter, aims to provide easier access to the mountains for individuals without personal vehicles.
Direct Access to Major Ski Domains
The new seasonal service will facilitate travel to renowned ski resorts by passing through key hubs such as Chambéry, Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne, and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. From these stops, travelers can seamlessly connect to major ski domains including Les 3 Vallées, La Plagne, Tignes, and Val d’Isère, utilizing local public transport networks and shuttles.
Flexible Schedule for Skiers
Buses for this new line will depart from Lyon Perrache station and operate primarily on weekends during the Christmas and winter holidays. The service will run from December 19 to January 5 (on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays) and from February 7 to March 8 (on Saturdays and Sundays). BlaBlaCar Bus plans to offer over 2,000 seats throughout the winter season, with schedules tailored to the habits of Lyon residents.
Affordable Fares and Increased Capacity
The pricing structure is designed to be highly competitive, with a Lyon-Chambéry journey costing just 5.49. For all other destinations from Lyon on this new line, the fare will be 19.99. In addition to the new line, BlaBlaCar has also announced an increase in capacity for its existing Lyon-Chambéry connection during peak season to meet growing demand.
Boosting Regional Tourism and Accessibility
This new bus line represents a significant step towards enhancing regional tourism and making the Alps more accessible to a broader audience. By offering an affordable and convenient transport option, BlaBlaCar Bus is contributing to sustainable travel solutions and reducing the reliance on private cars for mountain excursions. The initiative is expected to be particularly beneficial for students and young professionals seeking cost-effective ways to enjoy winter sports.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from local residents and ski enthusiasts, who have long sought more direct and economical ways to reach the popular ski destinations. This development also aligns with broader efforts to promote public transportation and reduce carbon footprints associated with travel.
BlaBlaCar Bus continues to expand its network, providing essential connections and catering to the diverse travel needs of its customers. The success of this new line will likely pave the way for similar initiatives in other regions, further integrating public transport with leisure activities.
