“My son, Alexandre, was returning home last night after working until 8 PM; he has a part-time job to pay for his music studies. Headphones on, he calmly arrived at Place Grandclément in Villeurbanne, when 50 meters from the entrance to his home, he encountered two people shouting at each other, one of them pulled out a revolver and shot at his protagonist. Three bullets hit the young man and one misaimed bullet hit Alexandre,” Christian wrote on Facebook.
Alexandre sustained a severe knee injury and was rushed to Edouard Herriot Hospital for emergency surgery. “He felt like his knee exploded; lying on the ground, he screamed in pain,” his father added, expressing dismay that some bystanders filmed the scene instead of immediately calling for help.

According to Christian’s social media post, the bullet fractured the head of Alexandre’s femur at the knee and remains lodged there. Surgeons anticipate a recovery period of 8 to 12 months before Alexandre regains full mobility.
