Missing 11-year-old girl found near Gare de Lyon after widespread search in Paris
Paris, January 8 – An 11-year-old girl who went missing on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, during a snowy day in Paris, has been found safe near Gare de Lyon. The disappearance of Anna-Rose, who lives in the 7th arrondissement, sparked a large-scale search operation involving dozens of people.
Hours of worry, then relief
The alert was raised on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after Anna-Rose failed to attend her school in the 15th arrondissement. A classmate reportedly saw her in a bookstore around 2 PM, but after that, her family, who stated she does not own a mobile phone, lost contact. Anouch Toranian, a deputy at the Paris City Hall, shared on X that Anna-Rose was expected to attend a snowball fight at Place du Trocadéro.
An investigation for a worrying disappearance was immediately launched and entrusted to the Parisian judicial police’s brigade for the protection of minors. Hospitals were also put on alert. “Parents are currently searching around the Champ de Mars and the vicinity of the school,” Anouch Toranian had indicated. More than 80 people mobilized to find the missing girl.
Found near Gare de Lyon
The anxiety finally ended around midnight when Anna-Rose was located near Gare de Lyon. “Interviews will allow us to verify what happened and to ensure that there was no third-party involvement in this event,” the prosecutor’s office stated.
Anouch Toranian expressed relief, posting, “This chain of solidarity was exemplary. We are now relieved to know she is safe and sound, surrounded by her family. The 15th arrondissement breathes again!”
The incident occurred amidst an episode of snow in Paris, which may have contributed to the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the subsequent search efforts.
