Lyon’s International Bus Station Relocates to Gerland

Lyon, January 12, 2026 – The international bus station in Lyon has officially moved from Perrache to Gerland, in the 7th arrondissement, as of today, Monday, January 12. This significant relocation affects passengers using Flixbus, Blablacar Bus, and Itabus services, who will now depart from and arrive at the new Gerland facility.

Transition and Traveler Information

To ensure a smooth transition and prevent confusion, the three bus operators (Flixbus, Blablacar Bus, and Itabus) are automatically informing customers about the change during online ticket bookings. Additionally, signage and stickers have been placed at the former Perrache location to direct travelers to Gerland. Staff at the Lyon Perrache Exchange Centre (CELP) and TCL public transport have also been briefed to assist any disoriented passengers. The Métropole de Lyon has further distributed a flyer detailing the new bus station, including a map of the passenger building and platforms, and access instructions.

New Gerland Station: Facilities and Accessibility

The relocation was necessitated by ongoing work at the CELP, part of the extensive ‘Ouvrons Perrache’ project. After more than six months of construction and an investment of 4.3 million euros by the Métropole de Lyon, the new bus station is ready. Operated by Kisio, the station is accessible 24 hours a day and features 17 boarding and drop-off platforms, a traffic regulation area, and a passenger building open from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, soon to extend to 9:00 PM.

Inside, travelers will find two waiting rooms, an information desk, two ticket counters, vending machines for drinks and snacks, automatic lockers, and restrooms. A dedicated rest area is also available for drivers.

The most convenient way to reach the station is via the Line B metro, with the Stade de Gerland station just a five-minute walk away. For those traveling by car, two LPA Mobilités parking facilities will be operational in February. The first, with 275 spaces, is located at the redeveloped Palais des Sports parking lot, and the second, also with 275 spaces, is the former TCL park-and-ride. These parking lots will align with the on-street parking tariffs in the 7th arrondissement. A drop-off service offering 15 minutes of free parking will allow passengers to be dropped off or picked up without charge. However, on match days or during events at Matmut Stadium, these parking lots will be reserved for Lou Rugby.

Security Measures and Future Plans

Security at the new station is a priority, with 26 video surveillance cameras linked to the LPA Mobilités supervision center. Two agents during the day and three at night will ensure safety. Police patrols, informed of the relocation, are also expected to frequent the area regularly.

The choice of Gerland, a neighborhood already impacted by construction, for a bus station handling over 2.5 million annual passengers and 230 buses daily, has raised concerns about potential congestion. However, the Métropole de Lyon emphasizes the excellent public transport links and the impending completion of the T10 tramway. Looking further ahead, the definitive international bus station is planned to be established in Vénissieux-Parilly, near Metro Line D, by 2032-2033.
