Lyon, January 21, 2026 – Maxi Zoo, a leading pet supply chain, inaugurated its first store in Lyon today, Wednesday, January 21st. The new outlet is located within the Confluence shopping center (Lyon 2e) and marks the brand’s second city-center store in France, following its Parisian debut. This opening is part of Maxi Zoo’s urban development strategy, aiming to cater to the growing demand for pet products in metropolitan areas.

An Urban Pet Store Concept Tailored for City Dwellers

Situated on level 0 of the Confluence shopping and leisure center (112 cours Charlemagne), the new Maxi Zoo store boasts a compact format of approximately 145 square meters. The product offering has been deliberately narrowed to focus primarily on dogs and cats, featuring over 1,800 references. This includes a wide array of food, accessories, hygiene and care products, and toys designed to meet the specific needs of urban pet owners.

Unlike the brand’s larger out-of-town stores, this urban location does not sell rodents or birds. The selection is curated for a predominantly pedestrian clientele, emphasizing products that are easier to transport and a range specifically chosen to suit the lifestyles of city residents.

Online Ordering and Rapid In-Store Pickup

The Confluence store places a strong emphasis on an omnichannel customer experience. Clients can access more than 12,000 items through online ordering, with the option to pick up their purchases in-store within three hours if the products are locally available. For items sourced from the logistics platform, pickup is estimated within 48 to 72 hours, providing flexibility and convenience for busy urban consumers.

Responding to Strong Local Demand

With one in two households in the region owning a pet, this new Maxi Zoo store directly addresses a significant demand from Lyon residents. The company also highlights its commitment to local solidarity actions, including collection drives where proceeds are donated to partner animal shelters, reinforcing its community engagement.

An Assertive Growth Strategy

This new Lyon store also serves as a testing ground for the future of Maxi Zoo’s city-center network. The brand plans to accelerate its urban format expansion with numerous upcoming openings across France. Maxi Zoo, which reported a turnover of 601 million euros in 2024, thus reaffirms its ambitions in the French animal well-being market.

Practical Information

Maxi Zoo Confluence is located at 112 cours Charlemagne, 69002 Lyon. The store is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
