Lyon Metro Line C Temporarily Halted Due to ‘Major Disturbance’

Lyon, France – Lyon’s Metro Line C experienced an unexpected halt in service on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 8:21 AM. Transport company TCL reported a “major disturbance” on the line, which connects the city center (Hôtel de Ville) to Cuire.

The disruption was attributed to an electrical system fault located between the Hénon and Cuire stations, rendering the line inoperable for a significant period. This incident caused considerable inconvenience for morning commuters in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Immediate Response and Alternative Transport

In response to the service interruption, TCL swiftly implemented alternative transport solutions. Shuttle buses were deployed to cover the affected route between Croix-Rousse and Cuire stations. For passengers traveling between Hôtel de Ville Louis Pradel and Croix-Rousse, the C13 bus line was recommended as an alternative.

A spokesperson for TCL stated, “We are providing shuttle buses that serve the stations from Croix-Rousse to Cuire. For your journeys between Hôtel de Ville Louis Pradel and Croix-Rousse, you can use bus line C13.”

Service Resumes After More Than Two Hours

After more than two hours of disruption, normal service on Metro Line C resumed. TCL reported that operations recommenced around 10:30 AM, allowing passengers to continue their journeys without the need for alternative transport. The cause of the electrical fault is expected to be investigated further.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by urban transport networks when unexpected technical issues arise, and the importance of rapid response mechanisms to minimize impact on daily commuters.
