Lyon, March 17 – The prestigious Michelin Guide has once again shone its spotlight on the culinary scene of the Rhône region, announcing three new star recipients for its 2026 edition. Two of these coveted stars have been awarded to establishments in Lyon, further cementing the city’s reputation as a gastronomic powerhouse.
Two Lyon Restaurants Earn Their First Michelin Star
In Lyon, two restaurants have successfully entered the ranks of Michelin-starred establishments, each receiving their first star. These additions highlight the vibrant and evolving culinary landscape of the city.
Circle, a gastronomic restaurant located in the 1st arrondissement and helmed by Chef Bastien Ruga, was among the new recipients. Its innovative approach and refined dishes have clearly made a significant impression on the Michelin inspectors.
The second Lyon restaurant to be honored is Les Loges, under the direction of Chef Anthony Bonnet. This marks a significant comeback for Bonnet, who regains a star just ten months after the restaurant’s reopening in May 2025. The star had been automatically lost during the period of renovation. Chef Bonnet expressed profound emotion regarding this recognition, stating, “Receiving this star is a deep and sincere emotion. For more than twenty years, I have had the chance to practice my profession in the heart of Lyon, the cradle of our gastronomic tradition. My cuisine has been built on privileged relationships with passionate local producers. These men and women are my daily accomplices, those who give meaning to each plate. I owe this star to them.”
L’Etape Dorée in Saint-Genis-Laval Also Recognized
Beyond Lyon, the Michelin Guide also extended its recognition to L’Etape Dorée in Saint-Genis-Laval. Chef Yo Miyazaki’s establishment was awarded its first Michelin star, acknowledging its exceptional culinary offerings and contribution to the region’s gastronomic excellence.
These new accolades from the Michelin Guide underscore the dynamic and high-quality dining experiences available across the Rhône region, promising an exciting future for local gastronomy.
