LYON, April 4 – A severe accident involving a TCL C13 bus occurred this Saturday morning in the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon. The bus reportedly struck a tree on Cours Général-Giraud in the 1st arrondissement, near the Jardin des Chartreux, according to emergency services and confirmed by Le Progrès.
One Passenger in Critical Condition After Bus Hits Tree
The incident, which took place around 6:45 AM, left at least two people injured, one seriously. A passenger had to be extricated from the wreckage and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to initial reports. The driver of the TCL bus sustained minor injuries and also received medical attention.
Images from the scene show the articulated bus, the sole vehicle involved in the accident, with significant damage. The windshield was shattered, and one side of the bus was completely torn open, likely to facilitate the intervention of firefighters. A total of 28 firefighters responded to the scene with eleven emergency vehicles.
Investigation Underway to Determine Accident Cause
An investigation has been launched to determine the precise circumstances leading to the accident. At this stage, details regarding the cause are not yet available.
This incident follows another significant accident in Lyon involving TCL buses and cars, which resulted in nine injuries. Public transport safety remains a key concern for authorities in the region.
