Lyon, April 8, 2026 – The Vicat Group has taken a significant step in its industrial strategy by unifying its construction chemicals activities under a new entity named Vicat Matériaux Formulés. This follows the earlier merger of VPI and Cermix, marking a strategic move to reinforce its presence in a dynamic market and to offer solutions that complement its traditional operations.
A Merger to Structure a Growing Business
The reorganization of Vicat’s chemical division, which began in early 2025 with the integration of VPI and Cermix, culminates today with the official creation of Vicat Matériaux Formulés. This new entity brings together approximately 400 employees and operates with a robust industrial infrastructure comprising seven production sites across France, notably in the Ain and Drôme regions.
With an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons and a commercial network spanning the entire country, the group is establishing a cohesive organization to address the market for industrial mortars and technical building solutions.
Two Brands to Drive Commercial Strategy
The new entity will leverage two of the group’s established brands. VPI will serve as a multi-specialist, covering key market segments from facades to civil engineering. Cermix, conversely, will maintain its strong position in tiling-related products.
This dual-brand approach allows Vicat to capitalize on recognized brand equity while clarifying its product offering. The objective is twofold: to consolidate market share within France and to accelerate international expansion.
A Market Undergoing Consolidation and Environmental Pressure
This restructuring occurs amidst a period of consolidation in the construction chemicals market. Industry players are seeking to achieve critical mass to absorb innovation costs and meet evolving regulatory demands.
Environmental pressures are also a significant shaping factor. Construction materials are central to decarbonization efforts, compelling manufacturers to invest in more efficient and less emissive solutions. In this context, Vicat aims to position itself in high-value segments, including bio-based materials, energy-efficient renovation, and sustainable infrastructure.
A Strategic Lever for Group Decarbonization
Beyond industrial structuring, Vicat Matériaux Formulés aligns with the group’s overarching goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Product innovation is identified as a key driver to reach this objective, through the development of solutions with a reduced environmental footprint.
This new entity thus complements Vicat’s historical activities in cement, concrete, and aggregates, broadening its scope towards higher-value technical solutions. For industry stakeholders, this evolution underscores a fundamental trend: the increasing importance of formulated materials in the construction value chain, at the intersection of performance, durability, and innovation.
