Ilegal Social Club: New Latin-Inspired Restaurant Opens in Lyon’s Guillotière District

Lyon, April 11 – The Guillotière district in Lyon’s 7th arrondissement has welcomed a new culinary establishment, Ilegal Social Club, which officially opened on April 1st. Located on Rue de Bonald, the restaurant aims to delight diners with its Latin-inspired menu, blending the vibrant cuisines and atmospheres of Spain and Mexico.

The opening of Ilegal Social Club further enriches the already diverse gastronomic landscape of Rue de Bonald, offering residents and visitors a fresh dining experience.

A Fusion of Spanish and Mexican Flavors

Ilegal Social Club offers a diverse menu featuring tacos, guacamoles, pintxos (Spanish tapas), and various cured meats. The establishment prides itself on providing a warm and unpretentious dining experience, with dishes served directly at the spacious counter or at tables. The food is complemented by a selection of fine South American wines.

Open from 6 PM to 11 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, Ilegal Social Club is envisioned as a “lively spot” where cultures and flavors merge, emphasizing “good, raw products accessible to all.”

The Vision Behind Ilegal Social Club

Loric, the owner of the neighboring Bao Haus restaurant and Canteen caterer, is the mastermind behind Ilegal Social Club. He conceptualized the restaurant over four years, describing it as a blend “between a pintxos bar in Spain and a taquería in Mexico. We draw from everything I love,” he shared, highlighting his passion for gastronomy.

By late spring, the restaurant, situated in the heart of Guillotière, is expected to feature an outdoor terrace with approximately 30 seats. This addition will allow patrons to enjoy their meals outdoors during the warmer months.

The Guillotière District: A Culinary Hotspot

The Guillotière district continues to grow as a popular destination for food enthusiasts. The arrival of Ilegal Social Club underscores the area’s dynamic culinary scene, attracting establishments that offer unique and diverse dining options.

Local residents and food critics anticipate that Ilegal Social Club will quickly become a favorite, thanks to its distinctive concept and commitment to quality ingredients.

As Lyon’s gastronomic reputation continues to flourish, Ilegal Social Club stands out as a promising addition, bringing a slice of Latin American culinary tradition to the heart of the city.
