Lyon, April 28, 2026 – The Parc de la Tête d’Or will host a unique solidarity event on Sunday, May 31, 2026: ‘La Foulée Déchaussée’ (The Barefoot Stride). Organized by Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri, this event invites participants to run or walk barefoot on the park’s lawns, symbolizing solidarity with individuals experiencing extreme poverty.
A Unique Solidarity Initiative
This event offers a distinctive experience, encouraging participants to connect with the cause by literally walking in the shoes of those less fortunate. The act of running or walking barefoot is a powerful gesture of empathy and support for the homeless and those in precarious situations assisted by the association.
Accessible to All
Open to everyone, ‘La Foulée Déchaussée’ caters to runners, walkers, and families alike. Several formats are available to suit various preferences and fitness levels:
- A 6-kilometer solo race
- A 2×3-kilometer duo relay
- A 3-kilometer solidarity walk
- A children’s course for ages 8 to 14
This inclusive approach aims to bring together people from all walks of life around a common goal of solidarity and community engagement.
Concrete Solidarity Through Participation
Beyond the physical activity, each registration for ‘La Foulée Déchaussée’ directly contributes to a meaningful cause. Participants support the Foyer’s crucial actions in providing reception, accommodation, support, and integration services for the most vulnerable. A significant part of this solidarity effort involves a fundraising drive associated with the race, where participants are encouraged to collect donations.
Fundraising Goals and Impact
The event is designed to be an accessible and unifying moment. Every participant commits to collecting donations for Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri, with a minimum target set during registration (100€ per adult and 50€ per child).
- Registration Fees:
- 10€ for solo race, duo relay, and walk formats
