Lyon, France – From Friday, May 22, to Monday, May 25, 2026, significant traffic disruptions are anticipated around Lyon due to scheduled works on the A7 motorway, the Fourvière tunnel, and the Perrache underpasses. In response to concerns about massive traffic diversions into residential areas, the commune of Vernaison has implemented strict temporary traffic restrictions. Neighboring Charly has also followed suit with similar measures.

Vernaison and Charly Barricade Roads to Non-Residents

Fearing a repeat of previous A7 closures, which saw residential streets overwhelmed by diverted traffic, the municipality of Vernaison has announced temporary restrictions on several key routes. These roads, previously heavily impacted during motorway closures, will now be accessible only to local residents. The affected roads in Vernaison include Chemin du Pelet, Chemin de la Pronde, and Chemin de Corcelles.

In the adjacent commune of Charly, Chemin de Corentin will also be reserved exclusively for its residents. These measures aim to protect the quality of life for inhabitants and ensure the smooth flow of local traffic, unhindered by transit vehicles.

The commune of Vernaison has confirmed that these actions were coordinated with the Métropole de Lyon, as well as with the municipalities of Charly and Irigny, to ensure a harmonized approach to managing the expected traffic influx.
