Pilgrimz: Lyon-based Audio Guide App Gains International Traction
Lyon, May 22, 2026 – Pilgrimz, a free audio guide application developed in Lyon, is quickly captivating travelers worldwide. Since its launch in late 2025, the app boasts more than 1,400 created tours across 550 cities in 37 different countries. Available on both iOS and Android platforms, Pilgrimz automatically activates and provides historical insights about monuments as users approach them, thanks to its geolocation feature.
A New Approach to Travel and Curiosity
Amandine Soares, the Lyon-based founder of Pilgrimz, conceived the audio guide as a tool to foster greater understanding and curiosity about the surrounding monuments. “With Pilgrimz, we put curiosity and sharing back at the heart of travel,” Soares stated.
The application aims to function as a cultural travel social network. To achieve this, it is offered free of charge and is accessible in nine languages, allowing for an immersive discovery of new places. In just a few months, diverse destinations such as Alpine heritage sites, wine regions, and protected natural areas have joined the platform.
User-Generated Content and Offline Accessibility
Pilgrimz allows users to automatically record their routes, which can then inspire other travelers. Anyone can create an audio guide, with their path traced and all points of interest clearly marked. Travelers have the option to make their guides visible on Pilgrimz or other social networks. Whether following a precise itinerary or simply wandering through the streets of a new city, the audio guide adapts to nearby monuments.
For added convenience, an offline mode is available once the city map has been downloaded in advance. This feature ensures uninterrupted access to information even without an internet connection.
The rapid adoption of Pilgrimz highlights a growing demand for interactive and informative travel tools that empower users to explore at their own pace while fostering a sense of community among travelers.
