End of the heatwave: Thunderstorms and cooler weather for Paris
Paris, May 30 – After an intense heatwave, residents of Paris and the Île-de-France region can expect a significant change in weather conditions. Météo-France forecasts indicate the arrival of thunderstorms and a sharp drop in temperatures, bringing an end to the sweltering heat that has gripped the region.
While Paris and its inner suburbs remained under an orange heatwave alert this Saturday, May 30, temperatures are set to decrease dramatically across Île-de-France. The upcoming weather will also feature thunderstorms and rain.
Météo-France forecasts for Paris and Île-de-France
The heat is still firmly in place this Saturday in Paris and throughout Île-de-France, with the atmosphere becoming heavy and conducive to stormy developments. In the afternoon, the mercury is expected to climb to 33°C around 2 PM, accompanied by a light westerly wind. This combination of high temperatures and unstable air favors the potential formation of localized thunderstorms across the region.
In the evening, Île-de-France residents might experience showers, some of which could be thundery. Rainfall is expected to average 2 millimeters in the capital. Despite these rainy spells, mild temperatures will persist, with 32°C still anticipated around 8 PM in Paris. The wind, blowing from west to southwest, will remain light to moderate but could be accompanied by gusts reaching up to 65 km/h in the early part of the night.
During the upcoming night, the thunderstorms will gradually move away, leaving behind a veil of high clouds. Temperatures will remain pleasant, hovering around 23°C by 2 AM in the capital. Some gusts of 65 km/h may still be possible locally in the early night before a general calm sets in.
A calmer Sunday and pleasant start to the week before more storms
Sunday promises to be calmer. The morning will begin with a veiled sun and 19°C around 8 AM, before an increase in cloudiness in the early afternoon. However, the weather will remain largely sunny, with 23°C expected around 2 PM and a light to moderate west-northwesterly wind.
The beginning of the week will be marked by pleasant weather. On Monday, the sky will be partly cloudy in the morning with a minimum of 15°C, then slightly veiled in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will reach 27°C, values higher than seasonal norms.
A new deterioration is expected on Tuesday, with sometimes thundery showers from the morning. Approximately 4 millimeters of rain are forecast for Paris, both in the morning and afternoon. Temperatures will range from 17°C at dawn to 23°C at their warmest, under a light to moderate west to southwest wind.
This significant weather change follows a period of intense heat, prompting authorities to issue warnings and advise residents to take precautions. The shift is expected to provide much-needed relief and a return to more seasonal temperatures.
