Radical Weather Shift Expected in Lyon and Rhône Region

Lyon, June 9, 2026 – A radical change in weather is imminent for Lyon and the Rhône region, according to the latest forecasts from Météo-France. After a period of overcast skies and temperatures around 20°C, a strong return of heat is predicted, with the mercury expected to reach 30°C by Sunday.

Gradual Temperature Increase Through the Week

Temperatures will begin to rise progressively towards the end of the week, reaching summer levels by Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

  • Wednesday: Mild conditions with clear spells in the Rhône, temperatures ranging from 17°C in Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize to 22°C in Lyon.
  • Thursday: A slight increase in temperature, with Lyon reaching 23°C in the afternoon and a minimum of 19°C in Tarare. The sun will shine across the department with minimal cloud cover.
  • Friday: The first significant jump in temperatures, with thermometers showing around 26°C in Lyon, Neuville-sur-Saône, and Villefranche-sur-Saône during the hottest part of the day. Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize will see a minimum of 22°C in the afternoon. It will be very sunny.

Hot and Sunny Weekend Ahead

The weekend promises hot and sunny weather across the region.

  • Saturday: Temperatures will climb an additional two degrees, reaching 28°C in Lyon, Pusignan, L’Arbresle, Villefranche-sur-Saône, and Neuville-sur-Saône in the afternoon. The Beaujolais region will experience a minimum of 25°C.
  • Sunday: The thermometer is expected to hit 30°C in the afternoon in several communes of the Rhône, including Lyon, L’Arbresle, Neuville-sur-Saône, and Villefranche-sur-Saône. The Beaujolais, Tarare, and Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coize will see a minimum of 27°C. The sun will continue to shine brightly.

This upward trend in temperatures is expected to continue into Monday, June 15, with highs of 31°C in Lyon, Neuville-sur-Saône, Belleville, and up to 32°C in Villefranche-sur-Saône. Following a heatwave in May, summer appears to be returning and is set to settle in for an extended period in the Rhône.
