Paris, June 10 – Colas, a subsidiary of Bouygues, has announced its selection by Groupe ADP to undertake the rehabilitation of Runway 4 at Paris-Orly Airport. The project, led by Colas in a consortium with Tersen, Spie Batignolles Valérian, JDC Airports, and Cegelec, is set to commence in August 2026 and is expected to span about four months.
Extensive Rehabilitation and Modernization Efforts
The ambitious project will mobilize over 350 employees to rehabilitate the 3,350-meter-long Runway 4 and its associated access roads. Colas, a specialist in the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure and urban developments, highlights the significance of this undertaking for the Parisian airport.
Beyond the runway itself, the scope of work includes the renovation of seven aircraft taxiways and the reconfiguration of a critical intersection. The modernization efforts will also encompass other aeronautical infrastructures, such as the installation of more than 40 kilometers of new signaling and drainage networks.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
In line with its environmental commitments, Colas plans to implement several innovative solutions aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 48% compared to initial specifications. Furthermore, nearly 90% of materials generated from demolition will be recycled, either directly on-site or through Tersen’s valorization and recycling platforms. This commitment underscores a growing trend in large-scale infrastructure projects to integrate sustainable practices.
