Lyon, June 12, 2026 – An incident occurred this Friday afternoon at the Nuits de Fourvière festival site in Lyon’s 5th arrondissement, where a fire engulfed four vehicles. The Rhône firefighters were alerted shortly after 3:00 PM, and their rapid intervention led to the evacuation of approximately fifty individuals. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Emergency Response and Evacuation

The first alert was received by the Rhône firefighters at 3:21 PM. Twenty firefighters were immediately dispatched to the ancient Fourvière amphitheater site, where a significant plume of smoke was visible from a distance. The fire, which involved four vehicles, was brought under control by 4:00 PM. The origin of the blaze remains unknown at this stage.

“There was indeed a fire at the back of the Nuits de Fourvière village,” confirmed the festival’s management to actu Lyon, stating that only “a few vehicles” were affected. “The entire team is relieved that it was brought under control very quickly by the firefighters,” they added.

No Further Spread and Concert Maintained

Firefighters have confirmed that there is no risk of further spread on the site or to public roads. The Nuits de Fourvière management has also assured that the evening’s concert, featuring the Cesária Évora Orchestra scheduled for 9:30 PM, will proceed as planned, with “no risk to the public.”

The intervention was expected to conclude before the end of the afternoon. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
