Lyon Metropolis Launches Online Platform to Improve Mobility
Lyon, June 17 – The Métropole de Lyon has introduced a new online participatory platform, “Ça bloque ? On agit!” (It’s blocked? We act!), designed to enable residents to report obstacles to mobility and propose solutions. Launched on June 9 as part of the Metropolis’s fluidity plan, the platform will be open for contributions until July 31.
The initiative aims to gather real-world feedback on various issues, including those related to ongoing construction, inadequate infrastructure, or dangerous situations, to improve daily commutes for all residents.
A Platform for Reporting Ground-Level Realities
Residents can now use the Metropolis’s website to report their concerns in four simple steps. The platform is designed to be more user-friendly and effective than traditional consultations, as it also allows users to suggest potential solutions to the identified problems.
Since its launch, the platform has seen significant engagement, with 602 individuals reporting a total of 1,354 blocking points. This demonstrates a strong community interest in contributing to the improvement of urban mobility.
“Each contribution is analyzed by the Metropolis’s departments (roads, networks, infrastructure, mobility, etc.), then qualified according to its degree of importance, and put under study for future action,” stated the Metropolis in a press release on June 16.
Addressing Mobility Challenges in Lyon
The creation of “Ça bloque ? On agit!” reflects the Métropole de Lyon’s commitment to addressing the practical challenges faced by its residents in their daily travels. By directly involving the public, the Metropolis hopes to gain a comprehensive understanding of mobility pain points and implement targeted, effective solutions.
This initiative complements other ongoing efforts in Lyon to enhance transportation, such as discussions around the Metro E line, the second tunnel under Fourvière, and improvements to cycling safety on routes like Montée du Chemin-Neuf. The city is also exploring solutions like the T-libr transport ticket for simpler occasional travel and has seen the successful adoption of electric Vélo’v bikes.
