Summer Swimming in the Seine: Grenelle Arm Reopens for 2026 Season
Paris is once again offering a unique opportunity to swim in the Seine at the Grenelle Arm, from July 4 to August 30, 2026. This free public swimming area, located opposite the Île aux Cygnes and with stunning views of the Eiffel Tower, promises a refreshing summer experience for all.
The Grenelle site (15th arrondissement) has been significantly expanded in 2026, reaching the size of an Olympic swimming pool. It can accommodate a maximum of 200 people, with 150 in the designated swimming zone.

Access Requirements:
- Swimming Ability: All participants must know how to swim.
- Minimum Height: A minimum height of 1.20 meters is required.
- Children: Minors under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
On-Site Facilities:
To ensure a comfortable and safe experience, the Grenelle Arm swimming area provides:
- Changing rooms
- Secure lockers
- Mandatory showers before swimming
- Toilet access
- First aid station
- Seating areas for relaxation and sunbathing
Safety and Supervision:
The site is staffed by a minimum of four qualified lifeguards. Upon entry, a supervised launch into the water ensures that all safety conditions are met, including the mandatory wearing of a buoy.
- Mandatory Buoy: A buoy is provided free of charge and must be returned in good condition.
- Supervised Entry: Personnel will oversee entry to ensure compliance with safety rules.
Operating Conditions:
The Grenelle Arm swimming site is open daily, subject to favorable conditions:
- Moderate Current: Swimming is permitted only when the river current is moderate.
- Water Quality: The water quality is analyzed daily by the City of Paris.
- Weather Conditions: The site operates under clement weather conditions.
In case of exceptional closure due to adverse conditions, visitors will be informed directly on-site or via the dedicated page on the City of Paris website.
Dates and Times:
The swimming area will be open from July 4 to August 30, 2026. Specific daily hours vary:
- Saturdays: 10:00 AM to 4:45 PM
- Sundays to Thursdays: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Please note: Exit from the water is required 30 minutes before the site closes each day.
