Air France and Groupe ADP Launch “Stopover” Program to Promote Paris Tourism

Air France and Extime Travel, a subsidiary of Paris airports operator Groupe ADP, announced on Wednesday a new initiative designed to encourage connecting passengers to visit Paris. This “stopover” program, a well-established concept in the tourism industry, aims to increase revenue generated from flights with layovers.

A Key-in-Hand Offer for Connecting Travelers

With 50% of Air France customers arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle connecting to another destination, this new service will provide a comprehensive, all-inclusive package for visitors. The program, available for either outbound or return flights, includes transfers, accommodation, and activities for stays ranging from one to four nights. A minimum layover of 27 hours is required to participate in the program.

For example, travelers flying from Madrid to Tokyo could extend their journey with a stopover in Paris, enjoying the city’s attractions before continuing to their final destination.

Targeting High-End Tourism

Air France and Groupe ADP are specifically targeting high-spending tourists, offering carefully selected four or five-star hotels located in the heart of Paris or near Disneyland Paris. However, the offer is accessible regardless of the chosen class of travel on the aircraft.

Extime Travel, the Groupe ADP subsidiary managing the program, currently sells packages to Paris and other parts of France to nearly 1.2 million travelers annually.

Boosting Tourism at Roissy Airport

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport welcomed 72 million travelers in 2025. While traffic saw a slight decrease of 0.2% in the first half of 2026, this new stopover program is expected to contribute positively to tourism figures and overall revenue for both Air France and Groupe ADP.

The “stopover” concept has been successfully implemented by other major airlines and airport hubs worldwide, including Turkish Airlines in Istanbul, Emirates in Dubai, Icelandair in Reykjavik, and Singapore Airlines in Singapore, all of whom offer similar extended layover options to their passengers.

This strategic partnership between Air France and Groupe ADP underscores a concerted effort to leverage Paris’s appeal as a global tourist destination and enhance the travel experience for connecting passengers, transforming what might otherwise be a simple layover into an enriching Parisian adventure.
