Paris, July 30, 2026 – The deployment of the MF19, the new generation of metro trains, continues across the Parisian transport network. After its successful launch on Line 10 in October 2025 and an anticipated introduction on Line 7bis in December 2026, the modern MF19 trains are scheduled to commence service on two additional lines in 2027: Line 3bis and the heavily trafficked Line 13.
Enhanced Travel Experience for Parisian Commuters
The MF19 trains are designed to significantly upgrade the travel experience for all users, offering a more contemporary and comfortable environment. RATP highlights that these new trains will provide increased safety and advanced onboard information services. This deployment is part of a broader effort to modernize the public transport infrastructure in Paris, which has seen numerous lines undergoing significant works, particularly during the summer months, to accommodate these new trains.
Deployment Schedule and Key Features
The first line to benefit from the MF19 trains was Line 10, with services beginning on October 16, 2025. This year, Line 7bis is next in line, with delivery expected in December. Looking ahead to 2027, Line 3bis and Line 13 will integrate the MF19 into their operations. Specifically for Line 13, the MF19 is slated for service in the summer of 2027, preceding a full automation of the line projected for 2035. RATP is currently conducting extensive testing on Line 13 to ensure optimal functioning and compatibility with existing infrastructure.
Future deployments include Line 12 in 2028, Line 8 in 2029, Line 3 in 2031, and Line 7 in 2033. The progressive rollout of the MF19 trains across other lines is planned to continue until 2033.
The MF19 is characterized as a modular train, embodying modernity and designed to meet both current needs and future challenges of urban transport. Key features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort include reversible air conditioning, ergonomic seating, natural lighting ambiance, USB charging ports, and real-time passenger information screens. Furthermore, the trains are equipped with various waiting zones, catering to short and long journeys, and dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility.
Ongoing and Upcoming Transport Works in Île-de-France
The introduction of the MF19 trains coincides with ongoing and planned maintenance and modernization works across the Île-de-France transport network. Commuters should be aware of potential disruptions:
- RER B: Partial closure between Gare du Nord and the south of Paris from July 25 to August 16, 2026, for 23 days due to modernization work.
- RER A: Nation station will be closed for two consecutive months, from June 29 to August 30, 2026.
- Metro Line 8: République station will be closed for 9 months starting July 22, 2026, for renovation.

End of Paper Tickets and New Ticketing Options
As of November 5, 2025, paper tickets have been phased out in Île-de-France stations. Tourists and occasional visitors to Paris now have several alternative options for travel, including the Navigo Easy Pass, Liberté+, the Île-de-France Mobilités app, and contactless payment on buses. These solutions aim to streamline the ticketing process and offer more convenient travel options.
