Lyon Metro Lines A, B, C Face August Disruptions: Your Essential Guide

As is traditional during the summer, the TCL network in Lyon will undergo extensive maintenance and energy works throughout August 2026. This means that commuters and visitors using metro lines A, B, and C will need to adjust their travel plans. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you navigate these disruptions.

Line C: Total Closure for Two Weeks

The most significant disruption will affect Line C, which will be completely shut down from Monday, August 3rd, to Sunday, August 16th, inclusive. This closure will impact the section between Hôtel de Ville – Louis Pradel and Cuire. These works are crucial for essential maintenance near the Hénon station. During this period, passengers are strongly advised to use the C13 bus line as an alternative.

Line A: Evening and Morning Interruptions

Line A will also see several interruptions during August. The metro service will be halted in the evenings on August 3rd, 6th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 24th, and 27th. Additionally, a morning interruption is scheduled for Sunday, August 16th. To ensure continuity of service, replacement bus shuttles will be provided. These shuttles will operate every 15 minutes, divided into two sections:

  • From Perrache to Charpennes
  • From Charpennes to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie

Line B: Evening and Partial Morning Closures

Passengers using Line B should anticipate three evening interruptions: on Wednesday, August 12th, Thursday, August 13th, and Sunday, August 16th. From 9:30 PM onwards, service will be suspended between Stade de Gerland and Charpennes. However, the metro will continue to operate between Stade de Gerland and Saint-Genis-Laval Hôpital Lyon Sud.

Replacement bus shuttles for Line B will serve the following stations every 15 minutes in both directions:

  • Gare Part-Dieu Vivier Merle
  • Saxe – Préfecture
  • Saxe – Gambetta
  • Jean Macé
  • Place Jean Jaurès
  • Debourg
  • Stade de Gerland

On Sunday, August 16th, Line B will also have limited service before 12:45 PM, operating only between Stade de Gerland and Saint-Genis-Laval Hôpital Lyon Sud. Normal service will resume between 12:45 PM and 9:30 PM, before the final evening interruption.

Summary of August Disruptions:

  • Line C: Total interruption from August 3rd to 16th (inclusive) between Hôtel de Ville – Louis Pradel and Cuire. Recommended alternative: Bus C13.
  • Line A: Evening interruptions on August 3rd, 6th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 24th, and 27th. Morning interruption on August 16th. Replacement bus shuttles will be in place.
  • Line B: Interruptions from 9:30 PM on August 12th, 13th, and 16th between Stade de Gerland and Charpennes, with replacement bus shuttles. On August 16th, service will also be limited before 12:45 PM.
