Lyon’s TCL Network Undergoes Major Changes: What You Need to Know Starting August 31, 2026
Commuters in Lyon and the surrounding metropolitan area should prepare for significant changes to the TCL public transport network, effective August 31, 2026. These adjustments include new and revised bus routes, extended tram services, and an increase in fares. The changes aim to better serve certain districts and business areas, particularly around La Doua and Villeurbanne, and to support the extension of the T6 tram line and the introduction of the TB12 TramBus.
Key Changes to Expect:
1. Extended T4 Tram Line:
- The T4 tram will extend its route to IUT Feyssine during school weeks.
- Three new stops will be added: INSA Einstein, Croix-Luizet, and IUT Feyssine (new terminus).
2. Bus Network Revisions:
- C26 Line: Completely redesigned to provide a north-south connection between INSA Einstein and Grange Blanche, including a new stop at Pôle Pixel.
- C27 Line: A new line combining the C11 and the eastern part of the former C3, running between Saxe-Gambetta and Vaulx-en-Velin La Grappinière.
- C9 Line: Modified to better serve the La Ferrandière district.
- 69 Line: Will now pass through Les Buers, Cité Internationale, and Transbordeur. Frequency will increase to every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours.
- 49 Line (Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon): Extended to Rue Sainte-Barbe, with additional service to the Plan du Loup sector, Ellipse hall, fire station, and Calicéo.
- 43 Line: Route adjusted to improve service to the Lyon Nord industrial zone and the La Richassière ZAC.
- 84 Line: Will gain a new stop at Rochecardon.
- New 44 Line: Will connect La Chaux – École de Champlong to Collonges-Fontaines train station.
- C17 Line: Shortened, retaining only the connection between Laurent Bonnevay and Porte des Alpes.
- 37 Line: Extended operating hours until 11:45 PM daily, with a new stop for connection to the T6 at Roger Planchon.
3. Enhanced Airport Service:
- 47 Line becomes 248: Service will increase by over 30%, from 44 to 58 daily trips, operating from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays. Off-peak frequency will be every 45 minutes (currently hourly).
- A new stop will be installed near the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport freight and logistics zone.
- 30 Line becomes 230: New route to serve the Pesselière and Z.I. du Dauphiné activity zones, improving connections between Toussieu, Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu, and the metropolis.
4. Other Adjustments:
- Most other lines will see schedule or frequency adjustments.
- C22 Express aims to save five minutes during morning peak hours.
- C22 and C24 schedules will be better coordinated in Craponne.
- 40 Line will circulate more frequently in the evenings and have extended hours on Saturdays.
- C202 (between Chazelles-sur-Lyon and Gorge de Loup) will have increased frequency during peak hours and operate from 5:30 AM to 8:10 PM on weekdays.
- 216 and 237 lines will have new stops to improve service to various business and university areas, including Campus Région Numérique (for 216) and ESAT d’Amplepuis (for 237).
Fare Increases:
Starting September 1, 2026, public transport fares will also increase:
- The monthly City pass for 26-64 year olds (zones 1 and 2) will rise from €74.10 to €75.90.
- 18-25 year old and student subscriptions will also increase by approximately one euro, depending on the package.
