Lyon, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France – The Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL) is set to commence its 2026-2027 season with an ambitious and robust program, featuring two significant 20th-century masterpieces. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, the musical director, will lead the orchestra in performances of Gustav Mahler’s 5th Symphony and Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalîlâ-Symphonie, promising a powerful start to the new season.
Messiaen’s Turangalîlâ-Symphonie with a Family Touch
The season will open on September 17 at the Auditorium de Lyon with Messiaen’s monumental Turangalîlâ-Symphonie. In a unique approach, the ONL will feature its own pianist, Pierre Thibout, for the keyboard part, rather than inviting an external soloist.
