Amazon’s New Logistics Hub Near Lyon to Create 3,000 Permanent Jobs

Lyon, March 8, 2026 – Amazon has begun a significant recruitment drive for 3,000 permanent positions at its new, highly anticipated logistics platform located near Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport. The facility, which is nearing completion, is set to become operational in June 2026, handling hundreds of thousands of packages daily.

Recruitment Underway for Various Roles

The American e-commerce giant has already started filling key positions, including logistics operations managers, maintenance technicians and supervisors, automation specialists, and support functions such as human resources and occupational health and safety professionals.

A major recruitment campaign, in partnership with France Travail, is scheduled to launch at the end of March. This phase will focus on logistical roles, particularly logistics agents responsible for receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping orders. Amazon emphasizes that no specific diploma is required for these positions, stating, “Recruitment is based on each candidate’s potential and abilities.”

Attractive Salary and Benefits Package

Amazon is offering a competitive remuneration package. After 24 months of permanent employment, the salary will amount to more than €2,350 gross per month, which includes a 13th-month bonus and a profit-sharing premium. Additionally, employees will receive numerous benefits, such as a participation scheme, various bonus mechanisms, and an extra month of paid leave for all parents upon the arrival of a child.

According to Amazon, the hourly entry-level salary for logistics agents has increased by 19% over the past three years, reaching €13 per hour.

Challenges and Future Plans

One of the main challenges for future employees will be commuting to the site, as it is not directly served by the TCL public transport network. Pierre-Louis Debroise, director of the Colombier-Saugnieu distribution center, indicated that discussions are underway with Sytral Mobilités to address this issue.

The construction of this mega-platform has faced some opposition, but its completion marks a significant development for the region’s economy and employment landscape. The company’s investment in this new hub underscores its commitment to expanding its logistics network in France.

This large-scale recruitment initiative is expected to provide substantial employment opportunities for residents in the Lyon metropolitan area and surrounding regions, contributing to the local job market with permanent contracts and attractive benefits.
