A significant, tangible step was taken during the Choose France summit on May 19, 2025, when Qiddiya Investment Company and the French government signed a memorandum of understanding to explore a “major project related to tourism and entertainment in France.” However, this official document does not explicitly mention Dragon Ball, Courdimanche, or the Mirapolis site, leaving room for interpretation regarding the circulating information.
Feasibility Studies and Challenges Ahead
Further demonstrating the seriousness of the initiative, a working meeting was reportedly held in late July 2026, overseen by the Prefect of Île-de-France. Attendees included representatives from several ministries, RTE (France’s electricity transmission system operator), and Île-de-France Mobilités. Discussions focused on crucial aspects such as the future park’s electricity supply, transportation infrastructure, land use, and project governance. The proposed French park is anticipated to be a smaller version of its Saudi counterpart. However, no specific plans, visuals, or descriptions for the Courdimanche site have been released. Images currently circulating in the media primarily depict the Saudi project, and should therefore be viewed with caution when considering the Val-d’Oise location.
Existing Obstacles and Future Considerations
Several significant hurdles must be overcome before the project can move forward. The Mirapolis site was already earmarked for another development, with an environmental procedure initiated in 2024 for a first phase covering ten hectares, including tourist cottages, co-living spaces, and hotel accommodations, within a total area of approximately 30.6 hectares. A Dragon Ball park would necessitate clarifying land ownership, addressing the fate of these existing developments, and securing the rights holders’ agreement for operation in France.
