A video circulating on social media has garnered significant attention, depicting the dramatic conclusion of a dangerous police chase near Lyon. The pursuit involved an individual, reportedly a fiber optic installer, and gendarmes.
Dangerous Pursuit on a Busy Road
While the starting point of the chase remains unknown, it concluded on Boulevard Des Hespérides, a heavily trafficked road connecting Tassin-la-Demi-Lune directly to the Fourvière tunnel. The 41-second clip immediately reveals the perilous nature of the situation. A man driving a van, equipped with an aerial work platform on its roof, performs a dangerous maneuver in the middle of the lanes. A pedestrian is also present, despite being in a prohibited area, just meters from a gendarmerie vehicle blocking the utility van’s progress.
Chaos then ensues.
Narrow Escape from Being Hit
Forced out by the pursuing officers, the suspect exits the vehicle and immediately leaps over the central safety barrier. While crossing the lanes leading to Tassin, the man narrowly avoids being struck by an oncoming van. After this close call with death, the fugitive continues to run alongside the roadside fence, with law enforcement still in pursuit, under the stunned gaze of other motorists.
According to our information, the man was eventually apprehended by gendarmes and taken into custody.
Mystery Surrounds the Incident
When contacted regarding the reasons for this dangerous flight, the Rhône gendarmerie stated that no information would be released at this time, suggesting a sensitive ongoing investigation. Therefore, it is currently unknown what specific charges the individual faces, or whether he was indeed a legitimate “fiber installer.” An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.
