Paris, August 11, 2026 – Infanta Sofia of Spain is preparing to embark on the next phase of her academic journey, moving to Paris in September 2026 to study Political Science and International Relations at Forward College. This follows a year of study in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of a unique trilateral program.
Infanta Sofia’s Academic Path at Forward College
Forward College, established five years ago, offers a distinctive university experience that extends beyond traditional academic settings. Its program is designed to provide a world-class education while taking students on a journey across three countries. Infanta Sofia, who previously obtained her International Baccalaureate from UWC Atlantic College in Wales, commenced her studies in Lisbon and will proceed to Paris before concluding her degree in Berlin, Germany.
The Infanta’s proficiency in French, one of the eight languages she masters, will undoubtedly aid her transition to the French capital. This move marks her return to Paris two years after her last visit for the Olympic Games.
Living and Studying at Cité internationale universitaire
In Paris, Infanta Sofia will reside and study with her peers at the Cité internationale universitaire, located in the 14th arrondissement. This unique international hub hosts over 12,000 students from more than 150 different nationalities, providing a diverse and multicultural environment that the Infanta is accustomed to.
The training center of Forward College is situated within La Maison internationale, an institution equipped with extensive facilities for students. These include a library, a theater, a sports hall, and a swimming pool, all of which will be available to Sofia and her fellow students.
Accommodation and Student Life
Within her residence, the Infanta will have her own room, ranging from 13 to 17 square meters, complete with a private or shared bathroom and kitchen. For relaxation, Sofia and her companions can unwind in the common lounge areas, which feature amenities such as foosball and billiards tables.
Balancing Studies and Official Duties
Despite her international university studies, the 19-year-old Infanta will continue to fulfill her official duties. According to Hola! magazine, “The Infanta combines international university studies with her own agenda and a constant presence at the forefront of official life. Her ability to reconcile studies, representative functions, and public responsibilities gives her a special place within her royal generation.”
Just last month, on July 8, Infanta Sofia delivered her first official speech in Zaragoza with distinction, serving as the honorary president of the Ibercaja Foundation during the awards ceremony for the “Leading Teachers” program.
Her academic journey at Forward College highlights a modern approach to royal education, emphasizing global exposure and a comprehensive understanding of international affairs.
