LYON, May 29, 2026 – A jewellery store in Lyon’s 7th arrondissement, Lead’Or, located at 61 Avenue Jean-Jaurès, was the target of an attempted robbery yesterday, Thursday, May 28, 2026, around 10:30 AM. The store manager was injured during the incident, but his condition is not life-threatening. Police responded rapidly, leading to the apprehension of at least one suspect.
Details of the Robbery Attempt
According to information gathered at the scene by Le Progrès, four individuals entered the Lead’Or jewellery store. Initially, one young man reportedly presented himself under the pretext of buying or selling a bracelet. He was then immediately joined by three other individuals who became threatening and violent.
The store manager sustained a head injury. Relatives indicated that he was deeply shaken by the event, but fortunately, his health condition does not raise concern. France 3 reported that the assailants allegedly struck the manager with the butt of a firearm before fleeing on electric scooters.
Swift Police Response and Arrest
Police crews arrived at the scene very quickly. As observed by Le Progrès, officers were able to apprehend at least one suspect at the location. The circumstances surrounding the arrest have not yet been fully detailed. The individual taken into custody was described as a young man with long hair, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, appearing to be in his early twenties. He was escorted in handcuffs to a police car.
